How To Make Starbucks Cold Brew Coffee

Making Starbucks cold brew at home is easy if you have the necessary kitchen tools.

Years ago, we created a viral Iced Dalgona Cold Brew Coffee, which is delicious, but we failed on the cold brew part.

We thought cold brew was cold coffee, but it’s not.

However, cold brew is easy to make and always have in your refrigerator.

You will need the following items to make Starbucks Cold Brew Coffee.

  • Cold Brew Filter System (I detail this purchase below)
  • Starbucks Coffee
  • Filtered Water
  • Pot or Kettle to boil

You need their caramel coffee or syrup to make a Starbucks Salted Caramel Cold Brew.

What Is Proffee?

Proffee is a cold or hot beverage of coffee and protein, making it the perfect start to your day.

Adding Premiere Vanilla protein powder or a protein drink, such as a high-quality chocolate or vanilla Fairlife protein shake, to unsweetened or sweetened cold brew with ice cubes.

You can also purchase Fairlife protein shakes at Costco, although cases of 24 sell out quickly.

Whipped Cream Or Topping- Salted Caramel Cold Brew Proffee

Some people like to add a splash of heavy whipping cream or whipped cream to the top.

For example, if you make a copycat Starbucks salted caramel cold brew using protein powder or a pre-made shake, top it with whipped cream and caramel sauce.

You can also use Fairlife high-quality protein milk, made in Canada with Vanilla Whey Premiere Protein Powder, salted caramel cold brew with syrup, and whipped cream.

Add salted caramel syrup if your Starbucks cold brew is unsweetened like the one I used.

Making a Starbucks Salted Caramel Cold Brew Proffee can be sugar-free.

Other Flavours Cold Brew To Make At Home

Making Starbucks cold brew or coffee at home is a massive budget saver and very popular.

Don’t overthink making cold brews, especially regarding added flavour.

At best, consumers will create copycat versions of Starbucks drinks that taste delicious and satisfying.

Use either Starbucks flavoured coffee or add flavoured syrup as described below.

  • Irish cream cold brew
  • Pumpkin cold brew
  • Vanilla cold brew
  • Peppermint cold brew
  • Starbucks cold brew unsweetened – add no sugar or sweetener and use unflavored coffee to make the cold brew.

Below is a photo I took at Food Basics of 1.42L of Starbucks Iced Coffee for $8.49. You can make this at home for a fraction of the cost.

Ingredients and Tools to make Starbucks Salted Caramel Cold Brew Proffee

On Facebook, many readers asked me where I purchased the 64 oz Country Line Kitchen Cold Brew Coffee Maker.

They also offer a 32 oz Country Line Kitchen Cold Brew Coffee Maker for a little less, but I’d go for the 64oz as it’s more bang for your buck.

It is a 64oz (2 quarts, 1.9 litre) heavy-duty mason jar pitcher with a stainless steel mesh filter and flip cap lid.

You can use it to filter coffee and tea to make cold brew at home, which is well worth the cost.

Please don’t fall prey to cheap versions of these cold brewing jars because you’ll only want to buy them once.

For this purchase, go for quality.

Also, on Amazon, for those who want to know about the ultra cool 50oz glass tumbler with lid and straw, glass water bottle with a handle, and silicone sleeve.

It’s perfect for at home or the office and is functional, which makes it perfect indoors or by the pool in the summer.

How To Make Salted Caramel Cold Brew

  • Always use filtered, fresh water when making any cold brew coffee, especially for Starbucks quality.
  • Add 2 cups of Starbucks caramel coffee or any other coffee grinds to the mesh filter.
  • Set the filter into the mason jar.
  • I boil filtered water in my kettle to 195 degrees before slowly pouring it into the cold brew stainless coffee filter.
  • Complete this process slowly as the filter fills quickly and needs time to get through the coffee grinds.
  • Once the mason jar is filled, put the lid on and place it in the refrigerator for 12-24 hours, depending on how dark you like it.
  • It’s ready to use at 12 hours.

This makes one 50oz salted caramel cold brew proffee.

You can modify the measurements to your taste.

I will link the ingredients we use in the recipe below so you can see what they are.

Ingredients

Instructions

  • Make cold brew as described above.
  • Pour two cups of cold brew into a 50oz drinking vessel.
  • Add one teaspoon of sugar-free salted caramel syrup (optional if your coffee grinds are not caramel or you want a sweet proffee).
  • (Add one or two scoops of high-quality whey protein powder, 20-30g protein) (See the package for info.) Put into a blender with 1 1/2 cups of water or milk (or a mix of both), such as Fairlife milk or your choice of milk, then blend until smooth.)
  • Pour 340ml of a pre-made Fairlife protein shake or a homemade protein drink (as described in the step above) into the drinking vessel with the cold brew.
  • Fill the vessel to the top by adding cold filtered water, more ice, or milk.
  • Add 10 ice cubes and stir with a straw, and taste for sweetness.
  • Optional (add 1/4 cup of 35% whipping cream or make whipping cream over-top)
  • Optional (add salted caramel sauce over the whipped cream)
  • Optional (add sea salt flakes if your coffee or caramel is not salted).

Nutrition and Tips

The amount of protein in our salted caramel cold brew proffee without whipped cream comes to 30g of protein, 2 cups of 0% Fairlife Milk, and 21g of protein (you can buy Fairlife at almost all grocery stores in Canada.)

The total protein is 51 grams. You can add or reduce the amount of protein you use.

Use any milk, salted caramel syrup, or coffee to make the cold brew proffee.

Homemade cold brew is good for about one week in the refrigerator.

Spread the used coffee grinds from your cold brew in the garden to add nutrients to the soil.

Thanks for checking out my recipe, and let me know if you make it and if you’ve made any modifications in the comments below.
